Privacy Policy

Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this Site is:

Email: info@winediplomacy.eu

2. Scope

This policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit winediplomacy.eu and on what legal basis, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3. Hosting and server log files

The Site is hosted by EasyHost (easyhost.be), with servers located in Belgium (EU). When you access the Site, the hosting provider automatically collects and stores standard server log data that your browser transmits — including your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and browser and operating-system information. This data is processed to deliver the website reliably and securely and to detect and prevent misuse. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website). Log data is stored only for as long as necessary for these purposes and is then deleted.

4. Fonts

The fonts used on this Site (Inter and Playfair Display) are stored and served locally from our own server. No connection to Google servers is made in order to display fonts, and your IP address is not transmitted to any third party for this purpose.

5. Maps (Google Maps) — loaded only with your consent

Some regional-guide pages offer an interactive map from Google Maps. The map does not load automatically. It loads only after you actively click “Load map.” Once you do, Google (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) may receive your IP address and set cookies, and data may be transferred to servers in the United States. If you do not click, no data is sent to Google. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent), which you may withhold simply by not loading the map. Google’s handling of data is described at policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Comments

If you leave a comment, the name, email address and IP address you provide are stored together with your comment, to help prevent abuse and, where relevant, to contact you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a)/(f) GDPR. If comment-author avatars are displayed, they may be retrieved from the Gravatar service (Automattic Inc.), which involves transmitting a hashed form of your email address; see automattic.com/privacy.

7. Contact by email

If you contact me by email, the data you provide (your email address and the content of your message) is processed solely to handle your enquiry. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. This data is deleted once your request has been dealt with, unless a legal retention obligation applies.

8. Cookies

This Site uses only strictly necessary / functional cookies. In particular, a language cookie set by the multilingual plugin (Polylang) remembers your chosen language, and WordPress may set functional cookies if you log in or submit a comment. The Site sets no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Because only strictly necessary cookies are used, no cookie-consent banner is required under the ePrivacy Directive.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data; to rectification; to erasure; to restriction of processing; to object to processing; and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. To exercise any of these rights, contact info@winediplomacy.eu. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority — for example the authority in your country of residence, or the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données, www.dataprotectionauthority.be), where the Site is hosted.

10. No automated decision-making

No automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place on this Site.

11. Changes

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the Site or to legal requirements. Last updated: 15 July 2026.
